It’s a time honored tradition.
Long day at work, drinks after…we know the drill. I never used to be a big drinker but living in SF has not been kind to my liver.
There are some great bars in the city but who can resist $2 beers & well cocktails?! Welcome Jade.
I’ve been here a few times but strangely enough, NEVER at Happy Hour. Recently I went there for a friend’s birthday and I was surprised by how crowded it was. But when I saw the $2 price tag, I realized why. Despite it being crowded, we managed to score a spot upstairs. I always think it’s interesting when bars have lofts -you have to manage to carry your drinks upstairs to sit down…drinkFAIL is definitely a possibility. Somehow we managed and even though it was a small bar area and the bar was crowded, our gay-straight bartender Johnathan managed to get drinks out quickly and efficiently. I also managed to check out the downstairs for the first time. There’s a second bar down there that I didn’t know about – but was packed during the happy hour. The ceiling is quite low so we all felt a bit claustrophobic and quickly headed back upstairs.
I think there’s a good chance this could become a regular happy hour location for my friends…which is good in some ways as it’s a short bus ride away from my house, but I can already hear my liver crying.
For you local people, where are some other good happy hour locations? I know there’s a ton downtown (Dada, House of Shield’s, etc). I’ve also heard The Tonga Room is supposed to be great but I’d like to hear your thoughts. And for those of you who aren’t local, where do you go in your town/city? What dictates a great happy hour spot?
My liver hates this information.
